CEED Hears Amanda Gorman on Climate Change

Amanda Gorman became the youngest inauguration poet when she shared her poem “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of President Joe Biden on January 20, 2021. She has also created other extraordinary poems, including a piece she wrote and performed about climate change called, “Earthrise.” In it, Amanda voices:
Floating like a silver raft
in space, and we see the face of our planet anew.
We relish the view;
We witness its round green and brilliant blue,
Which inspires us to ask deeply, wholly:
What can we do?
One thing we can do is inspire a new generation of young people to fight for the earth. In addition, those of us who are already adults responsible for the planet can open ourselves to inspiration from young people like Amanda Gorman and do our part to “choose to do more than cope …”
