Grants for CEED Field Trips

Dec 17, 2019

There are few things more fun than getting kids interested in wildlife and the outdoors, so at the Center for Environmental Education and Discovery (CEED) we’re thrilled to help our region’s schools teach nature and biological science. This fall, we presented programs in more than 35 schools, reaching over 800 children throughout Suffolk County!

In our school and community-based programs, Ranger Eric and his team use live animals and phenomena found in our local natural areas to help students explore the nature of science, create models and make connections. Our innovative, hands-on, inquiry-based Science Programs for grade-levels pre-K through 12, incorporate cross-cutting concepts that link to Math and ELA core curricula, and to the NYSSLS standards.

And we’re excited to help promote easy-to-apply-for grants from the New York State Connect Kids to Parks program. They provide $1,000 reimbursement for educational field trips to parks and outdoor locations. Also, ask about booking through BOCES to help defray costs.

Email Eric Powers or call 631-803-6780 for more information. For more information on the Connect Kids to Parks grant program, go to parks.ny.gov/environment/connect-kids/grant-program.aspx
