A Ramp Is On The Way!
Thanks to our friends, CEED keeps moving forward, even in these challenging times! We’re excited to announce that Andy Pandaliano, 17-year-old member of Troop 46 (Farmingdale, NY) has chosen CEED to conduct his Eagle Scout Service Project. Andy is going to solve a significant problem for us by removing the broken brick stairs at the west entrance of the Washington Lodge, and replacing them with a newly constructed handicap-accessible ramp.
Eric Powers, CEED’s Program and Site Manager, is so glad to have Andy’s help. “I gave him a bunch of projects from which to choose and he wanted to build the handicap accessible ramp for our center! And as if that’s not enough, he also wants to help replant the flower garden that’s right there as well. He is everything you would expect from a Scout and more, always helpful, quick with a joke, and willing to do more than asked.”
Andy’s first two fundraising attempts were cancelled due to the pandemic shutdown, so he decided to conduct it virtually. Mr. Powers adds, “Scouts only have a limited time to complete their whole project…design, approvals, fundraising, and construction…and he has to finish before his 18th birthday.” Andy has made it about two thirds through the fundraising but is now happy to announce that he just received a major donation from John Petsco to complete the funding for the project! We are now full steam ahead. Andy is grateful to John and all who have donated to help make this project happen.
Mr. Petsco is the owner of Long Island Creative Contracting, Inc., a contractor committed to turning people’s homes into their dream homes. Located in Miller Place, LICC does projects all over Long Island. John has been a friend of CEED from the beginning, and it’s gratifying to see him take a personal interest in Andy’s project.
We’re so looking forward to the completion of this project in the next few months!
Thank you, John Petsco and Long Island Creative Contracting, and thank you so much Andy Pandaliano. We are so proud to be the recipient of your Eagle Scout Service Project, and so grateful for your commitment to our mission.
Keep up with the latest news.
