CEED Summer Nature Leadership & Conservation Program 2022

For: Children in grades 8-11 (as of September)
When: Session One – July 11th – July 29, Session Two – August 1 – August 12
Where: Session One – Post Morrow Foundation property, Session Two – CEED and Mama Farm
Our CEED Leadership Program for young teens is back, but this time we are adding a bit of Conservation! This program is for young people who are ready for something more than a standard camp experience.
The Summer Leadership and Conservation Program is designed to help develop our future leaders and conservationists. Teens in this program will not only go out in the field to do real science, but they will also bring their knowledge back to share with younger children.
There are two sessions, a 3-week program at Post Morrow Foundation from July 11- July 29, where the children will be team building, exploring, and learning; whether seining in the bay, studying the Beaver Dam Creek ecosystem, or identifying trees on our nature trails for part of the time. They will also be leading CEED’s younger participants on hikes, science activities, explorations of the marine environment, and more.
The 2-week session is at CEED and at Mama Farm, the organic farm next door, from August 1-August 12, where the leadership trainees will work with farming and livestock and explore nature in the Dennis Puleston Preserve and CEED grounds.
Children can register for either or both sessions, which will run from 8:45-3:45 Monday through Friday. All participants receive a Leadership Certificate. This is a great way to gain experience in leadership for future careers in science, conservation, policy, or education. And participating teens get a “STAFF” Summer Nature Experience t-shirt.
Risk-free registration – We adhere to all NYS Department of Health COVID-19 Protocols and Regulations. If the regulations change due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the state, we will issue a full refund. If you need to cancel due to a COVID-19 requirement, we will issue a full refund, minus a nominal $25 charge to cover the cost of processing. Our Summer Nature Experience closed out last year, so register early to guarantee a spot!
