Meet a Volunteer – Marie Gocs

Nature Center, Volunteer

If you have attended any of our seasonal events or fundraisers you have probably met Marie Gocs (pronounced “goss”), one of our most dedicated volunteers, as she sells 50/50 raffle tickets.

Marie has been a champion for creating a better world, and a powerful voice for equity and a healthy planet her entire life. Over sixty years ago, she was getting her elementary students out in nature and preparing them to be caring, mindful citizens. Marie and her husband bought a home backing the Carmens River many years ago and their children were brought up to appreciate the natural world around them. Now her children and grandchildren have the same passion for nature. Back in the 60’s and 70’s when people became more vocal and passionate about our planet, Marie and her husband worked alongside the scientists and environmentalists in the area.

We are so fortunate to have Marie on our team of volunteers, so the next time you see her with the 50/50 raffle tickets at one of our festivals, please be sure to thank her for her decades of dedication to making this world a better place.

When she is not volunteering for CEED, you might see her dancing at a music concert or holding a sign of protest demanding fairness and equity for all regardless of gender, race, or income level or demands for a healthier planet. If we all had just a little bit of Marie’s energy, dedication, and fearlessness for making change, this world would be a much cleaner, healthier, and happier place.

Thank you, Marie Gocs for all you do for CEED and beyond.

We have all kinds of volunteers at CEED. Some volunteer weekly, some come and go, and others volunteer for specific events and activities. Our volunteers range in age from teens coming with their parents to seasoned stewards of the planet. If you are interested in being a part of the volunteer team, please click the link below or email
