We must strive all we can to preserve what is left.”

Dennis Puleston (Long Island environmentalist and artist)

Are you a Puleston Vagabond? First Saturda of the month, 9:00 – 10:00 AM Join our birding/nature/walking club. We’ll meet weekly on the fist Saturday of the month at 9:00 to walk somewhere nearby, looking for birds (and other wildlife). You don’t need to be a birder, or know how to tell a Carolina wren from a house wren. If you want a chance to get off your phone, get outside, and chat with nature friends, you might be a Puleston Vagabond. We named the club after Dennis Puleston, a pioneer of environmentalism who sounded the alarm about osprey and eagles, helped found the Environmental Defense Fund, and wrote an amazing book, Blue Water Vagabond, about his travels around the world on a sailboat. We won’t be getting on a sailboat, but we’ll be vagabonding around our local Long Island habitats looking for birds and small adventures. There is no charge for this program, we simply ask that you sign up so we know how many people are interested. And then just drop by the Washington Lodge whenever you have the time on a Saturday morning. We’ll be happy to have you as a Puleston Vagabond! So if someone aks if you “Are you a Puleston Vagabond?” you can confidently say yes. When: Generally, every Saturday 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. and occasional other opportunities. Location: Unless otherwise notified, all meetings will occur at CEED Washington Lodge. No registration required, just show up. More Details» Copy to my calendar
