Join the CEED Volunteer Team!

Many hands make light work! CEED was founded as an all-volunteer organization and continues to rely heavily on the time and energy of its generous volunteers. We have a wonderful group of environmentally minded individuals who are dedicated to helping CEED grow and flourish as a valuable community resource.

Volunteer opportunities include office help, building maintenance and renovation, animal care, cleaning and groundskeeping, community outreach, special events, marketing, writing, graphic arts, website and social media work, and much more.

All youth volunteers under 18 will require written parental consent, and those under 16 must be chaperoned by a parent or guardian.

July Volunteer Opportunities- Any Day not just Volunteer Day

 

Trail Work

  • Pulling Invasive Swallow-wort (Cynanchum louiseae)

  • Clearing and neatening trail path

Grounds Work

  • Neaten road view plant growth

  • Rake out blue stone from a few areas and put in Driveway

  • Clean the space between the sheds

Gardening

  • Community Gardening on July 6th and July 27th with Regenerative Garden experts Rowan Loren and Christian Roarke. Great way to socialize, have fun, and learn.

  • Weed Garden Beds and flower beds around the lodge

  • Red-eared slider fish pond area

CEED Animal Ambassadors

  • Looking for the following shifts for feeding and caretaking

    • Monday PM

    • Tuestday AM

    • Wednesday AM

    • Thursday AM

    • Friday PM

    • Saturday PM

    • Sunday PM

  • Looking for people interested in focusing on one animal. This would entail visiting twice a week to monitor health, habitat, and enrichment.

  • Salt water tank maintenance

Events

  • Help setting up Volunteer Event on July 3rd.

Education

  • Help Camp team clean, organize, and move needed camp supplies over to Post Morrow.

  • Clean and inspect kayaks and equipment

 

Fund Development

  • Summer Appeal help

 

Lodge

  • Cleaning windows and sills

  • Watering and caring for indoor plants

  • Installing air conditioners

Organization

  • Organizing sound equipment

  • Organizing event and volunteer bins

Bobwhite Quail

  • Helping with releases

  • Clean, inventory, and store supplies

  • Enter data and help organize information

  • Work on community science iNaturalist opportunity

Small Projects

  • Beekeeping

  • Help maintain and improve Eastern Box Turtle Sanctuary

  • Repair wind chimes

  • Clean and repair bird feeders

<p>Looking for volunteer opportunities at CEED we have many ways to participate.<br />

Animal Care: calling all animal lovers – come help us care for our amazing animal ambassadors! CEED is home to several different mammals, reptiles and birds. Volunteers make sure they have what they need to thrive! **Training provided and time commitment requirements must be met **</p>
<p>Events / Festivals Table Helper: there are so many incredible events on Long Island, help us be a part of them! Volunteers set up an informational table at local events / festivals and spread the word about CEEDs mission. **Training provided and time commitment requirements must be met **</p>
<p>Office Helper: we always need help with data entry and other clerical tasks! Volunteers assist with whatever office projects we have going on. We can apply these hours towards an internship if your school allows! ** Training provided</p>
<p>Social Media / Marketing: from our 140 year old building, to our 60+ acres of land – there is a lot of really cool stuff here that would make great content! Volunteers can make social media posts and videos that will be approved by our marketing committee to use! We can apply these hours towards an internship if your school allows!</p>
<p>Building & Grounds: we are stewards of the historic Washington Lodge and its surrounding property. Keeping CEED beautiful for our community is a big undertaking! Volunteers help us keep our trails cleared and appropriately marked, tend to our many gardens, and whatever else needs to be done depending on the weather and season. ** Training provided</p>
<p>Grant Writing: as a non-profit, we attempt to be involved in as many grants as possible. Volunteers help us research and apply for applicable grants.</p>
<p>Community Outreach: help us continue to spread the word about CEED! We love to try new things to engage with our community. Volunteers research and find ways to connect CEED to other local organizations, funding opportunities, etc.</p>
