Basic Bird Identification

Community Programs, Nature Center

Are you one of those “Yup, that’s a bird” people, but wish you were a “That’s a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker” type of person?  This is the class for you!

This class also makes a great gift for a friend or relative you would love to go birding with.

This 2-hour class will center around finding and identifying birds. We will talk about the variety of field guides to choose from and how to find your bird. Digital apps for identification will also be discussed. Want to venture outside to find a particular group of birds out in the field? We will talk about great local areas to explore.  Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair of ours to take a look at the local birds.

Birding leader Katie Kleinpeter is a lifelong nature enthusiast who developed her deep interest in birds throughout her life. She knows what it’s like to be a beginner, and what it’s like to be a true “birder.” She can get your from one to the other.
