Giving Tuesday Report from Moby Goby

Children, Community Programs, Nature Center, Support, Washington Lodge

Hey folks, Moby Goby here, reporting from one of the aquariums in the Marine Room at the Washington Lodge. From this watery vantage, I see and hear a lot of what goes on at CEED, and I can tell you that this place is hopping. Not long ago, in this very room, the Wavemakers kids painted a canoe they built themselves. It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to see it out on the waters next summer.

From what I’ve heard, Wavemakers is a free program open to kids ages 8-18 where they learn about nature and environmental issues and how to communicate about them. Someday, these kids will be ready to take their place as leaders who “make waves.”

As a goby who likes to sit on the bottom, waves make me rock, so I’m all in favor! Make some waves, kids!

The other thing I wanted to say is that creating programs that get kids connected to nature is a big deal at CEED, because they really work at it. In fact, they just extended the Wavemakers program to younger kids with a separate program called Puddlejumpers!

From this reporter’s perspective, nature programs for kids are a great reason to support CEED on Giving Tuesday, or any time, really. Also, it might just be that I’ve been looking out through the corner of the tank, but it appears to me that any gifts made to CEED on Giving Tuesday get doubled by a Matching Gift Fund (up to $2,000), so it’s a great time to give!

And on behalf of the kids, thanks!
