How Does Nature Work?
For children who always want to know how things work, CEED’s Exploring Ecology Summer Nature Experience is an adventure every day. How does a clam clean seawater? How does a plant turn sunlight into growth and energy? Read about it in a book, or watch it happen before your eyes.
For CEED’s Ranger Eric Powers, there is nothing more satisfying than encouraging open minds. “Letting the kids get up close with plants and animals changes their attitudes about nature and about science. When they say, ‘Whoa! Look what happened!’, that’s when you’ve really connected them.” Ranger Eric has designed the Exploring Ecology week to include daily interaction with clams, insects, salamanders, birds, and so many other animals and plants, in an experimental format that lets kids discover firsthand how nature works. It’s a natural and intellectual connection they’ll never forget.
