Meet CEED’s New Executive Director, Sally Wellinger!

Aug 25, 2020 | Nature Center

We’re so excited to announce that Sally Wellinger has been hired as Executive Director, culminating a search that began at the beginning of the year, but was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sally will lead our next phase of growth and development.

Sally takes over for Rebecca Muellers, one of CEED’s co-founders, who served admirably in the Executive Director role as a volunteer for the first five years of CEED’s history. CEED’s Board recognized Rebecca’s irreplaceable contribution to the organization with a special Resolution unanimously approved at its July meeting.

Sally comes to CEED with an extensive background in education, and specifically outdoor and science education. She has a master’s degree in Elementary Education, and has developed programs, worked as program administrator, and provided professional development, including New York State Science Learning Standards and science professional development for educators. She also has business experience, and extensive experience as a volunteer, helping to create and build the Eastern Long Island Mini-Maker Faire.

“She has everything we were looking for in a new Executive Director,” Board Chair Tom Pelletier says, “She has a strong commitment to CEED’s mission. And I’ve been so impressed with how quickly she has grasped the entire organization’s culture and operations. She’s amazing!”

For her part, Wellinger says she’s looking forward to helping CEED develop and become a community resource for the future. “This is my dream job!” she asserts.

Sally is looking forward to meeting others who share her commitment to CEED. You can contact her at sally@ceedli.org, or call CEED at 631-803-6780 to welcome Sally, to talk about CEED’s programs, about volunteering, and to support CEED’s work.

Welcome, Sally!
