Owl Prowl and Orionids Meteor Shower

Join Vanderbilt Planetarium and CEED for a night to remember …
Our popular combination IS BACK… Owls and Astronomy!! Enjoy a deep dive into the owls of New York, their important role in our ecosystem and learn about the owls that fledged this summer at CEED. After our short owl talk, we will head out on our trails to see if we can hear our local owls hooting. We will also keep our eyes out for any other nighttime creatures, such as flying squirrels, fox, bats and opossums.
After the night hike, you will be tantalized with a powerful telescope and someone that knows how to use it… our Special Guest, Charlie Eder, an astrophysicist and educator from the Vanderbilt Planetarium! This is a great night for deep observation as well as the chance to see shooting stars from the Orionid Meteor Shower. We encourage you to bring your own telescopes if you wish, binoculars, and even cameras to practice long-exposure photography. If cloudy, we will switch to a digital presentation for your enjoyment.
