Warm Fire and Stargazing – Our Winter Solstice Festival

Arts and Crafts, Community Programs, Events, Family, Nature Center, Winter Festival

Sunday, Dec. 15 · 3 – 7 pm

Join us for our Winter Solstice Festival with fun around the fire for the whole family. Enjoy music, crafts, and stargazing … we may even see the Geminids Meteor Shower.

At 3:00 – Mike Evans from Forgotten Skillz will join us to transport you back to ancient times with powerful Norse stories at the hearth. Then, engage in a hands-on workshop to create your own pine and resin incense—using materials foraged and revered by our ancestors as symbols of protection and light.

At 4:30 – Find your inner beat with George Schultze with Spirit Sky Drums and participate in a drum circle welcoming in the Winter Solstice evening. Bring your own drum or use one of ours. This is fun for all ages!

At 5:30 – Join Charlie Eder from Vanderbilt Planetarium to do some star gazing and learn from an astronomer! Not only will the December Cold Full Moon be high in the sky, this is also the time of year to catch the Geminids Meteor Shower (if we’re lucky)!

We hope to see you at this free holiday event!

Anyone can volunteer. Even you!
