We saw downy woodpecker, red bellied woodpecker, chickadee, 2 tufted titmice, 2 house finches, but by far the excitement was watching 3 American crows chastise a raven. The crows were dive bombing the raven until it finally flew towards the Lodge with one crow in close pursuit. The raven had a shocking evasive tactic…a double barrel roll which the crow didn’t know what to do about. The raven flew to the top of our tulip tree and proclaimed several guttural croaks. Then the most surprising thing happened…the raven flew straight back to the murder of crows and took pursuit of one of the crows to seemingly pay back the earlier attack. It was a flurry of black feathers until both the crows flew west and the raven flew east, but what a show for our birding crew! Eric Powers
